WESTERN PROMENADE
Portland neighborhood offering a walk to discover many houses in the purest New England style.
Walking along this beautiful promenade, you can see Fore River and South Portland on one side, and the beautiful homes of the 19th-century American bourgeoisie on the other. This neighborhood was built after the great fire of 1870. This is where you'll find the West Mansions, the largest in the city. Several architects left their mark here, as well as on the perpendicular streets, Bowdoin and Pines Street, for example. Many houses are clad in cedarshingle, in the purest New England style.
