WILSON CASTLE
Castle in Rutland with a mix of architectural styles and 32 rooms, lots of art and a sailboat
To see this castle, you'd think you were in Scotland, possibly in Germany, but certainly not in Vermont! It is indeed impossible not to notice, from the road, this old residence built in 1867, in a mixture of European architectural styles (neo-Romanesque, neo-Renaissance, neo-Gothic). It originally housed a couple of local notables: Dr. Johnson and his wife, who was English. In total, the house has 32 rooms, a wealth of artwork, stained glass windows, an aviary and an orangery.
