QUECHEE GORGE
Picturesque village of Quechee with 50 m deep gorges, offering the possibility to sleep in the park's camping.
The picturesque village of Quechee, east of Woodstock, is both a small tourist shopping center and the gateway to explore the gorges that run along the Ottauquechee River, now a torrent, for just over a kilometer. Carved out over 13,000 years ago, the gorges plunge to a depth of 50 m. They are part of Queechee State Park. Visitors can easily observe the gorge from a number of bridges, or take small trails leading from the road. Sleeping accommodation is available at the park's 45-site campground.
