HEMPSTED HOUSES
Two houses reflecting daily life in New England in the 17th and 18th centuries, and the architectural evolution over two generations
Two houses that give a fair glimpse of daily life in New England in the 17th and 18th centuries. We first visit the one built in 1678, the Joshua Hempsted House, a two-and-a-half storey wooden building.
Then we discover the 1759 Nathaniel Hempsted House, a pretty stone house with an attic. The first being the father of the second, we have the opportunity to admire the architectural evolution of New England over two generations, although Nathaniel Hempsted's house is quite unique.
