Along with the Folk Festival, here is the other great festival taking place here! For over 60 years, Rhode Island has been swinging every summer thanks to Newport and its renowned jazz festival. Approximately 10,000 people from all over New England, New York and sometimes even farther away gather at Fort Adam State Park. The festival stage has hosted some of the biggest names in jazz, including Miles Davis in 1955 and Duke Ellington the following year. Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald also performed there in their time.
