NEWPORT FOLK FESTIVAL
Go there and contact
This festival held in Newport honours folk music and has seen some of the biggest names in music perform on its stage.
This festival on the Rhode Island coast, which has been held since 1959, celebrates one of the oldest forms of American music, folk. It is held at Fort Adam State Park, at the southern tip of Newport and facing the waterfront. It has seen some of the greatest names in music, from Johnny Cash to Joan Baez to Bob Dylan, as early as 1963 and for the last time in 2002. When he performed on the festival stage in 1965, Bob Dylan was booed by the audience when he played a song on electric guitar, moving away from the folk tradition!
