CASA TORRE DE SALAZAR
Former tower-house, now housing a small museum retracing the history of the city, a temporary exhibition room
This defensive tower was built at the end of the 15th century by Lord Salazar. Its height made it possible to control the movement of people and goods coming from the port and along the roads. It was burnt down in 1934 and rebuilt in 1958 by the architect Joaquín Irízar, who gave it a very medieval appearance. It now houses a small museum that recounts the history of the town, a temporary exhibition room and a restaurant offering Basque cuisine and a good daily menu with a view of the river.
