Castle surrounded by a moat that housed the residence of the governor of the time and chapel in Porto.
The "Cheese Castle" does not owe its name to any weakness but to the shape of the rocks on which it was built in the 17th century (1662). Its main purpose was to protect the coast against attacks by North African pirates and Spanish invasions. Surrounded by a moat, you will observe its guard posts in the corners. It housed the residence of the governor of the time and a chapel. Temporary exhibitions are sometimes presented there.

Un fort qui n'a rien d'exceptionnel. Il porte ce surnom à cause des rochers sur lesquels il a été construit, mais ils n'ont rien de spécial non plus.
