ALFÂNDEGA NOVA
A neoclassical building, built by the river, a place thought to receive the services of the customs of Porto.
A neoclassical building made of granite, iron and wood, built in 1859 by the French engineer Jean Colson. Built on the riverside, the place was designed to receive the services of the customs of Porto. Explanatory panels inside retrace the history of this construction. The Afândega Nova de Porto currently houses a Congress Centre and the Museum of Transport and Communication. In the early 1990s, the building underwent renovation work under the aegis of architect Eduardo Souto de Moura. Worth a visit.
