PAÇO EPISCOPAL (BISHOPRIC)
A real palace, with a breathtaking view of the Douro River, with a particularly remarkable main granite staircase.
It is a real palace, but never has a king occupied it. House of the Bishop of Porto, he still resides there. The building has been under construction for more than a century and contains both Nicolau Nasoni's Baroque influence and neoclassical elements from the late 19th century. The main granite staircase is particularly noteworthy. To see: the Throne Room where, unlike the denomination, only the bishops of Porto are enthroned, a very surreal Hall of Mirrors. Breathtaking view of the Douro, which the building overlooks from its six floors.
