SAINT-CASTOR BASILICA
Romanesque basilica built in the century with an airy facade of perfect vaults, 2 symmetrical towers and a small flower garden.
The Basilica of St. Castor is a typical example of Romanesque architecture. Built for the most part in the 12th century, the facade of Koblenz's most famous church is airy with perfect vaults, and its two symmetrical towers soar high into the sky. The rest of the building, solid and squat, is remarkable. The adjoining small flower garden, the Blumenhof, has a very romantic feel. Finally, for the irony of (great) history, go and see, on the base of the former statue of the Rhine and the Moselle, the inscription engraved in the stone..
