DEUTSCHES ECK
Square with a statue of William , offering a superb view of the Ehrenbreitstein fortress site and the two rivers.
The famous "Deutsche Eck" is the pointed platform that juts out at the confluence of the Moselle and Rhine rivers, offering a superb view of the Ehrenbreitstein fortress site and the two rivers. The corner is dominated by the gigantic statue of William I (falsely aged, since it was rebuilt and reinstalled in 1993... the old one had been dismantled by the Americans in 1945). Near the tip of the Deutsche Eck are three fragments of the Berlin Wall, dedicated to the victims of the break-up of Germany.
