Crossing between Argentina and Chile, offering a great option for a luxury excursion in the company of professional guides
This crossing, which can be completed over one or more days, is highly recommended for discovering the grandeur of the Andean landscapes between Argentina and Chile. It's the only Andes crossing that takes you past the magnificent Todos los Santos, Frías and Nahuel Huapi lakes. The journey begins in Bariloche, Argentina, with a stopover in Puerto Panuelo, on the Llao Llao peninsula. As soon as dawn breaks, the scenery before you is breathtaking: the changing colors of the snow-capped mountains, the gently rising mist, and the seagulls circling over Lake Nahuel Huapi form a picture as picturesque as it is majestic. Next, the lake crossing takes you to Puerto Blest aboard the Gran Victoria, a comfortable boat offering breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks. From here, a short bus ride takes you to Puerto Alegre, on the shores of Lago Frías, where you board the Victoria del Sur for another crossing. Once you've reached the Argentinian border, the journey continues by bus through grandiose Andean landscapes to the Chilean customs at Peulla. Sitting on the left, you'll enjoy the beauty of the Valdivian forests, one of the most beautiful in the southern hemisphere, as well as a photo stop in front of the majestic Cerro Tronador. If you've opted for the day trip, this is the ideal time for a light lunch. After lunch, take advantage of Peulla's many activities: horseback riding, an excursion to the Laguna El Encanto, fishing, sailing on the Río Negro, a canopy tour, or even a 4x4 safari for adventure-seekers. The next day, after a twenty-minute walk along the pier, you'll be rewarded with the sight of a charming little waterfall before embarking again for the crossing of Lake Todos los Santos, nicknamed Lake Esmeralda for the striking color of its waters. For 1 hour 50 minutes, you can admire the Puntiagudo volcano, with its distinctive silhouette, and the Osorno volcano, with its postcard-perfect cone. In the background, Cerro Tronador still dominates the horizon. The arrival at Petrohué is marked by breathtaking scenery, with the possibility of visiting the famous Petrohué Falls, located in Vicente Pérez Rosales Park. Finally, for the more sporty, the "Bike&Boat" option allows you to replace the bus journey with a mountain bike tour. You'll cover almost 120 km across the Andes, making this an ideal option for those who enjoy a physical challenge!
