LAGO NAHUEL HUAPI
Bariloche agencies offering excursions and other water sports on the glacial lake with several islands and 7 separate arms
This magnificent 557 km2 glacial lake with its intense navy-blue waters has given its name to Nahuel Huapi National Park. It comprises several islands and seven distinct arms: Campanario, de la Tristeza, Blest, Machete, del Rincón, Última Esperanza and Huemul. The first Europeans to discover it in 1670 were Jesuit missionaries from Chiloé, Chile, who set up the Nahuel Huapi Mission here to evangelize the natives. Bariloche agencies offer a wide range of excursions and water sports on the lake.
