MUSEUM STARNBERGER SEE
A museum that is over a hundred years old, dedicated to Lake Starnberg and the Wittelsbachs.
This museum has evolved since 1914, when it was founded by the last king of Bavaria, Ludwig III. Originally a museum of folk art and tradition, new themes have been added as it has expanded. In 2008, the Neue Haus (New House) was built as a contemporary architectural anchor to the 17th-century Lochmannhaus. The history of the lake and of the Wittelsbach royal family is brought to life through collectors' items such as ship's bows and nautical models.
