SANKT NIKOLAUS
A rococo church in the centre of Murnau.
St. Nicholas Church in Murnau was built at the beginning of the 18th century after the War of the Spanish Succession. The Munich architect Enrico Zucalli took charge of the construction in the late Baroque or Rococo style. Since 1756 it has been a pilgrimage church dedicated to the Virgin Mary. You will be struck by the harmony of the whole and by the finesse of the work. Another curiosity is the glass sarcophagus containing the remains of saints: their skeletons are dressed in fine golden fabrics and set with precious stones.
