SCHLOSSMUSEUM MURNAU
The Schlossmuseum in Murnau exhibits numerous paintings by artists of the avant-garde expressionist movement Der Blaue Reiter.
Housed in a former castle (hence the name "Schlossmuseum"), this museum houses a collection of works by the avant-garde Der Blauer Reiter movement. The museum features paintings by Gabriele Münter and Wassily Kandinsky, who spent several summers in Murnau. You'll see many Expressionist paintings of the town, reminding us of Murnau's central place as a place of inspiration in the early 20th century. The top floor is dedicated to another celebrity who graced Murnau with his presence: the writer Ödön von Horváth.
