OLD CATHEDRAL (ALTER DOM)
Classical Baroque church, also known as the Jesuit Church, with 2 towers with verdigris roofs and organs by Franz Xaver Krismann.
Also known as the Jesuit Church, dedicated to St. Ignatius, this classical Baroque church was built to plans by Pietro Francesco Carlone between 1669 and 1683. The great organs by Franz Xaver Krismann were played by Anton Bruckner, the cathedral's resident organist from 1856 to 1868. From the outside, the verdigris roof of the two towers, inspired by the shape of Turkish tents, is particularly striking. Alter Dom ruled the Linz diocese from 1785 to 1909.
