VILLA MOORINGS * * *
Family-run hotel in a prestigious Liberty villa, with a lovely pool, garden and spacious rooms.
Built in 1924 by Leonello Castelvecchi (a farmer's son who made his fortune selling ice cream in Scotland!), the imposing Moorings villa was later transformed into a hotel, now run by Leonello's granddaughter Beatrice. Liberty-style, with a lovely swimming pool (open from June to September), the hotel offers twelve spacious rooms, decorated with antique furniture and original frescoes by painter Bruno Cordati. All are named after members of the family, such as the beautiful Nonno Lio suite, with terrace. Homemade breakfast.

Why didn't I give it 5 stars? The hotel is a bit weak on first impressions. Once I got past that, it was absolutely great!
