This impressive volcanic rock, formed some 12.5 million years ago, is Stanley's main attraction.

The Nut, 152 m high, is an impressive volcanic rock formed about 12.5 million years ago. Visible from a great distance as you head towards the town, it dominates Stanley and is its main attraction. A steep path leads to the summit (20 min walk) and the plateau from where the views are magnificent. For the less adventurous, a chairlift provides easy access and return. The 2 km discovery trail allows you to stop and walk around the plateau in about 40 minutes. Information on the site is available on the trail.
