Go there and contact
The two-day excursion from Ban Phalai includes the services of a local guide, boat trips, accommodation and meals. Overnight in a typical village: Ban Ta Ong, a village inhabited by the Brau (or Lavae) minority, who live according to age-old traditions. Allow between 3 and 5 hours' walking per day. Levels are easy, although some paths are narrow. Do not venture out alone.
Day 1: Departure from Pakse and transfer to Ban Phalai. Trek through the forest with a local guide who will teach you about medicinal plants. Arrival at Ban Ta Ong in the afternoon. Overnight stay. You will share the daily life and meals of the families.
Day 2: Wake up early and walk near a forest full of birds. Observation of fauna (gibbons) and flora. Return to the village for a Lao breakfast before embarking on a 3-hour walk through the jungle. Arrive at Ban Nong Ping around midday for lunch with the villagers. From here, take a canoe trip on the Ta Euang River (approx. 1.5 hours) and watch the birds... and maybe the macaques (for the lucky ones). Elephant rides are no longer available.
Pleasebring: long-sleeved pants and T-shirts, preferably dark-colored; valuables in waterproof plastic bags; waterproof sandals; hiking boots; mosquito repellent; flashlight; sun cream, hat and sunglasses.
