Vast religious complex, listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site in Varese.

The Sacro Monte of Varese, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a vast religious complex and an important place of Marian pilgrimage. Built between 1604 and 1680, fifteen chapels dedicated to the Mysteries of the Rosary lead to the baroque sanctuary of Santa Maria del Monte. Witnesses of the Counter-Reformation, the chapels are decorated with frescoes and life-size terracotta sculptures of particularly lively expressiveness. The two kilometre long devotional path that leads to the top of the hill allows you to enjoy a magnificent view of the lake.
