Built on the ruins of the Puji Monastery during the Three Kingdoms period in 247. Command of Sun Quan, King of the Wu of the East in honour of his mother. Under Song, this-storey pagoda is replaced by a seven-storey structure. This place of worship was extremely active during the Ming Dynasty, and a famous poet of the period documents him in one of his poems: " The song of the soutras is as noisy as the wave swell. Pilgrims are as many as ants and smoke from incense as dense as fog. " Only the pagoda survived the fire of 1860.
