WAVE FLAG
This garden is located in the south of the city, near the temple of Confucius. Built in the th century. It is one of Suzhou's oldest gardens. Su Shunqin, a poet of the Northern Song, fell in admiration at the Panmen gate and bought the garden to settle in Suzhou. On abandonment for a very long time, the garden was remodelled under the Ming Mountains: many buildings were added. The design of the Blue Wave pavilion is very different from that of the other Suzhou gardens: the central element is not water but the artificial hill. The Awakening Hall (Mingdao Tang) is the largest structure in the garden, and this is where the reading of scholarly texts occurred during the Ming and Qing dynasties. At the south of the garden, at the top of an artificial cave, rises the Pavilion to contemplate the mountain (Kanshan Lou), the temple of the 500 Sages (Wubai Mingxian Ci) is characterized by inner walls carved by 594 eminent historical figures.
The garden is a UNESCO World Heritage SITE.
