During the Spring and Automnes period (772-481 BC), this artificial mountain is the pleasure park of King of Wu. His son, King Fucai, buried his father under the Sword basin and according to legend, three days later, a white tiger appeared to protect the royal grave, hence the name of the hill. This wooded site includes several ancient structures, including the temple pagoda Yunyan, today the symbol of Suzhou.
