MANASSAS NATIONAL BATTLEFIELD PARK
Park in the north of Prince William County with several monuments and a museum with weapons and soldiers' uniforms
Located north of Prince William County, this site preserves two places where major battles occurred during the American civil war: the first Battle of Bull Run on 21 July 1861 and the second Battle of Bull Run from 28 to 30 August 1862. These conflicts were also named the «first and second battles of Manassas». Conflicts pitted the North army (the Union) to that of the South (the confederate). This park allows you to explore the land where these battles took place and receive more than 900 000 visitors per year. Several monuments are accessible on the park: Stone House, which served as a hospital, the Stone Bridge (the bridge on which the confederate retreat in retreat during the two battles), the remains of the village of Groveton, the New York Monument where the 5 th company of the New York Zouaves lost 123 men in 5 minutes, the tobacco plantations destroyed by Hazel Plain and Portici… There is also a museum where soldiers'uniforms and uniforms are displayed, an electronic map that better captures the tactics and strategies of both sides, a 45-minute information film documenting the history of these conflicts, and a walk on the Henry Hill Loop Trail.
