PIAZZA DELLA LIBERTÀ
Square surrounded by a series of interesting buildings in the center of the city
Piazza della Libertà, the city's nerve center, was redeveloped when Napoleon demolished the old cathedral. It is surrounded by a series of interesting buildings, including the arcaded Palazzo Municipale and the Baroque Palazzo della Prefectura, both of which date back to the 18th century. Later, on the north side, the Rationalist-style Post and Telegraph Palace, built in 1939, features a 38-metre-long mosaic by Gino Severini, illustrating the history of telecommunications.
