PIAZZA CAVOUR
Salon of Vercelli lined with porticos in arcades of different periods in the heart of the city
The nerve center of the town, Piazza Cavour is Vercelli's "living room". It stretches out on the site of the ancient Roman forum, sober and elegant at once, paved with the traditional pebbles that torment ladies perched on their heels. Lined with arcaded porticoes from different periods, from the 15th to the 19th century, the square is dominated by the Torre dell'Angelo (Angel Tower), with its square base and octagonal top. At the center of the square stands the statue of Cavour, the Piedmontese statesman and architect of Italian unity.
