ROCCA SANVITALE DI FONTANELLATO
The Rocca Sanvitale Di Fontanellato is a fortress of the end of the XIV century that rises in the center of the village
This late 14th century fortress stands in the centre of the village, surrounded by a wide water ditch. For six centuries and until 1948 it was the property of the Sanvitale family. The rooms are decorated and furnished with period furniture. The Hall of Diana and Actaeon decorated by the Parmigianino in 1524 is one of the masterpieces of Italian Mannerism. Through a curious set of prisms, from the Camera Ottica, one can still glance at the alleys in the centre without being seen.
