A remarkable Gothic cathedral, built in the Middle Ages, in Merano.
Merano's Gothic cathedral, dedicated to St. Nicholas, was built in the Middle Ages. Its curious façade features a tympanum crowned by crenellated turrets. On the right-hand side, the15th-century Gothic portal, adorned with statues, forms the main entrance. The exterior of the building is decorated with frescoes from various periods (15thand early 16th century), some of which were completely repainted by Alfons Silber in the 1890s. Imposing 83-metre-high campanile resting on painted pointed arches.
