RÖTTELN CASTLE RUINS
Ruins of a castle with accessible towers, imposing walls and facades, courtyards and fountains.
Rötteln Castle is a medieval jewel dominating the Wiesental with its imposing silhouette. Its towers, walls, courtyards, fountains and facades bear witness to its eventful history. It is one of the largest medieval ruins in Baden-Württemberg. From the Green Tower, you can enjoy panoramic views over the Wiese valley, the Blauen massif and the Black Forest. Built in the 11th century, it was damaged by the Basel earthquake of 1356, then by the Thirty Years' War, and destroyed in 1678. Visit the Rötteln church too!
