A TV series, Schwartzwaldhaus 1902, was celebrated in 2002, a four-part documentary documenting the life of a farmer's family, the Boro, in 1902. No electricity, no running water, no sanitary installation or technology: a summary life, ultimately. The family, among other things, learned to make its own butter. The series attracted nearly 35 million télespectateurs.
