Coal mining site turned museum, where you can discover the conditions, techniques and history of the mining industry.

The Hoffnungsstollen mine was in operation for many decades, mining coal deep underground. It closed in 1966, following the decline of mining in the region. Today, the Hoffnungsstollen mine has been converted into a museum. Guided tours give visitors an insight into miners' working conditions, coal extraction techniques and the history of the mining industry. You can also explore the tunnels on your own, provided you wear a helmet!
