Huge, majestic and elegant central square with symmetrical neoclassical palaces

Built in the early 19th century following the destruction of the city walls by Napoleon's army, this huge central square is the symbol of Cuneo, where the famous Tuesday market is held. Covering an area of 24,000m2, it stands majestically and elegantly at the heart of the city. Among the symmetrical neoclassical palaces that adorn the square, the Galimberti Museum stands out, erected in memory of the local hero of the Resistance. In the center of the square, the statue of Giuseppe Barbaroux pays homage to the jurist who drafted the Albertine Statute during the Savoy reign.

Il faut y aller le mardi quand il y a le marché car la place est remplie d'étalage. Les autres jours, du fait qu'elle soit très grande, elle semble déserte et triste.
