The centre is considered half as an aquarium, and for another half as a laboratory. An octopus at the entrance is the star. An exhibition shows the different sounds, textures, colors and behaviours that can be met in nature. This very instructive centre was originally installed in Lake Union, Seattle, but was moved to Newport in 2011. This is the only research centre of this kind in the United States.
