CASA OLARULUI (POTTER'S HOUSE)
"I want to carry on the tradition, because our village was famous for this profession," says Vasilii, the fifth child of the Gonciari potters' family. His father was a renowned craftsman in the village. At his side he became a master in this field. Originally, Vasilii had studied at the Faculty of Electromechanics at Bauman University in Moscow and then went abroad. He decided to come back to the village to carry on the family tradition and take over. Today the small business has grown considerably, with several employees and good communication to bring in more and more people. The workshops have been enriched with modern equipment and ensure many orders in the region. The premises are very frequently visited by schoolchildren and tourists. The visit includes the workshops and the museum, with an explanation of the history of pottery and its symbols. Individual or group introductory pottery courses are organized on site. Vasilii Gonciari's museum and factory are very well known in the country, Romanian and Moldavian newspaper articles have praised his work and talent. It is possible to buy a wide variety of pots, vases, plates, bowls, dishes, pots, tureens, cups and decorative objects. In summer, a traditional village market is held on the property, where you can admire and buy handicrafts (baskets, embroidery...).
