Founded on January 12, 1993, it is the largest national airline. In Soviet times it was part of Aeroflot and its activities began in 1944 with the opening of an aerodrome in the Moldovan capital (transformed into an airport in 1960). It operates direct flights to 33 destinations such as Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Bucharest, Istanbul, Lisbon, Madrid, London, Athens, Larnaca, Rome, Milan, Verona, Paris, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kiev and in season, Sofia, Antalya, Bodrum and Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt.
