The equestrian statue of this communist hero of the Russian Civil War was created in 1954 by a group of sculptors consisting of Lazăr Dubinovschi, K. Kitaika, I. Perșudcev and A. Posjado, in collaboration with the architect Feodor Naumov. The 5 m high bronze statue is mounted on a red granite pedestal and sits enthroned in front of the Cosmos Hotel. This statue is inspired by the equestrian statues of the Italian Renaissance condottiere such as Gattamelata and Colleone.
