MOLDEXPO EXHIBITION CENTER
Throughout the year, the Moldexpo exhibition centre organises exhibitions on a wide variety of themes (services, tourism, building materials, etc.). In 2011, he celebrated his 55th birthday. The centre began in 1956 as a permanent Republican Agricultural Exhibition, before being renamed the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy of the Moldovan Soviet Socialist Republic in 1959. It took the name Moldexpo in 1991. It is the only modern exhibition venue in Moldova and the largest organizer of international fairs. In the spring of each year (see website), an Arts Fair is held, where artists and craftspeople come to promote their work. Seminars and conferences of all types are organized, as well as promotions, presentations and meetings related to the world of industry, business, agri-food, technology, science or culture. Cultural events also take place there occasionally. It plays an important role in the expansion of economic relations between countries, as well as in the promotion of brands.
For the record, in the centre's car park, you will be greeted by statues of Lenin, Marx and Engels. This Lenin was indeed the one who competed with Ștefan cel Mare in front of the downtown park, he was enthroned in front of the government building, facing the Arc de Triomphe. It was debunked in 1991 and moved back here.
