The monastery is located on the banks of the river Catargul 25 km from Chişinău. The origins of the monastery date back to 1783, when a hermitage is created by monks from the monastery of Capriana. With regard to these monks, all the documents belonging to the Condriţa hermitage, kept at the monastery of Capriana, were subsequently moved to Mount Athos. Due to the increase in the number of parishioners, on 1 September 1918, the hermitage separates from the monastery of Capriana and became the Condriţa Monastery. Under Soviet rule, the monastery is undergoing upheaval. In 1946, some buildings in the monastery host a local forest school that will operate until 1960. At that time, the monastery had intense activity, monks had 61 hectares of land, orchards, vineyards, two factories and many animals. However, in 1961, the firm monastery and its monks were transferred to the monasteries of Capriana and Suruceni. The monastic complex of Condriţa is then transformed into a children's holiday camp, which lasted until 1993, the date of the reopening of Condriţa as a monastery. The first church Saint-Ierarh Nicolae existed before 1920, during the construction of the steeple it had already been restored in 1891. Between 1895-1897, another church Adormirea Maicii Domnului and the enclosures, such as, cells, verandas, galleries, are built. The Adormirea Maicii Domnului church follows a rectangular plane, the walls are 1,20 m thick, the ceiling is semi-cylindrical, in the corners painted the four evangelists.
The ancient frescoes were happily kept under the lime and were restored in 1995. In the courtyard of the monastery you will notice an old stone, with a carved cross and a vague inscription; According to the monks, this stone indicates the place where a wooden church was raised in the th century. Condriţa is a beautiful monastery, it is in the most remarkable list of Moldova.
