Founded in 1952, Cricova's cellars are very famous. Almost 30 million litres of wine are stored in 70 km of tunnels. A unique collection of old wines is on display. You can see Soviet wines, those of current political leaders and those looted by Hermann Göring (1937 burgundy, 1940 Bordeaux or 1938 Château Pavie). The Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin visited Cricova's cellars in 1966. Cricova is very famous for its sparkling wine as well as for its high quality red, white and rosé wines.
