VINARIA IALOVENI
This distillery was founded in 1953 on the former estate of the Murzin family and is specialized in Heres wines, similar to Spanish sherry. Ialoveni has a wine-growing tradition and in 1817 there were already about ten plots of land with vines. Their surface area will grow over time, and in 1903 V. V. Yanovsky succeeded in convincing the local farmers to organize themselves into an agricultural village community. In 1909, the farmers sold many vine cuttings (muscat, rară neagră, aligoté...) and in 1911 courses were organized on the spot to train other winegrowers to graft vines. The wine activity developed significantly but the local distilleries were nationalised a first time on September 13th 1940 by the Soviet authorities, and a second time in 1949.
The Vinaria Ialoveni estate owns 1 678 ha of agricultural land and is 60 % owned by the Moldovan State. Its main activities are grape processing, production, bottling and distribution of organic wines. The wines are aged in oak barrels. Thanks to modern technologies, these wines correspond to market requirements and their quality has been honoured with more than 50 gold and silver medals in tastings in international competitions. A specialized shop is located in the distillery where you will find the wines produced by this estate. There is also a company shop at Chișinău :
66 str. Vasile Alecsandri (tel: +373 22 27 37 34)
