PUBLIC GARDEN
The green lung of this "capital of the north", this park in the heart of the city faces the strada Independenţei, the liveliest area in the centre. It is the privileged place of relaxation for city dwellers. Very green, it shelters some bars and snacks under the trees. People come here to stroll around, as a couple, with family or friends. Children come to play, old ladies feed the birds and some take advantage of the benches to read or chat. Sometimes, flea markets are organized there. In winter, parents drag their children on sledges in the park's alleys and a large Christmas tree with many lights is set up for the festive season. A T-34 tank on a pedestal commemorates the memory of the Second World War and on the ground a red star shelters an eternal flame. It is not uncommon to see city dwellers coming to lay flowers or married couples taking pictures. Another monument pays tribute to the Soviet singer Vladimir Vyssotsky. At one end of the park, you will not fail to see the city's Roman Catholic church with its imposing size and very modern architecture.
Close to the municipal park is the central fountain and 200-300 m to the south is the park Andrieș. The town has other public gardens such as the Victory Park or the park of the Sainte-Parascève church and the residence of the bishop of Hotin. In the town centre you will also find a canoeing canal and a lake.
