CONACUL ROSETTI-ROZNOVANU
Go there and contact
Many localities in northern Moldova are distinguished by their manor houses (called conac in Romanian) dating from the 19th and early 20th centuries. All of them are charming, but many are in a worrying state or even in ruins. The construction of the Lipcani manor house began in the early 19th century, on the initiative of Countess Ecaterina Rosetti-Roznovan (1785-1870), and was completed in the 1820s. The facade is distinguished by its columned verandah balcony overlooking the park. Nearby was built the Church of St. Catherine, which has not been preserved. The manor house is one of the first to be built in the classical architectural style, which appeared in Bessarabia in the 1830s. In Romania, the Rosetti family was famous for its wealth. One of the properties of this boyar family, dating from 1832, houses the town hall of Iași, in Romania. After the death of Countess Rosetti-Roznovan, her niece Ecaterina K. von Ditman (1845-1923) inherited the manor. Reconstructions were carried out in 1870. In 1884, a two-storey annex and a water tower were built. In Soviet times, the manor house was converted into a hospital.
The building is in an advanced state of decay. The interior is not really open to the public. You can see an old operating room with its lamp. The park is not really maintained and has a wild side, which gives a mysterious atmosphere to the place. You can walk freely in the park.
