THE PARK OF ŢAUL
The park of Ţaul is located in the heart of the village and is famous in the country. It was designed from 1901 to 1904 by the landscape architect Vladislavski-Podalko in the tradition of 19th-century landscape parks, i .e. with Russian and European influences, and a garden architecture that was in turn inspired by French geometric gardens, the presence of small lakes in Italian gardens, and the romanticism of English parks. A gardener-vinegrower from the region also contributed. The park and manor house of Ţaul were built at the request of a banker from St. Petersburg, Andrei Iacob Pommer, who bought the land in 1900.
On the upper level, the manor house and its annexes are surrounded by a garden with flower beds. Up to the lower level, the park evolves into multiple landscapes, creating changes in scenery and atmosphere, ending in a world tour of the world's wooded landscapes. Tree and plant species were planted to recreate, among others, a Siberian taiga, a deep North American forest, a Russian steppe. The park extends over 12 hectares, has more than 13 km of paths, all designed to provide views from all sides, and small lakes. There are more than 150 species of trees, shrubs and lianas, including about 100 exotic species. At the beginning of the 20th century, the park was home to about a hundred species of animals, but now their numbers are reduced. You can still see deer, hares, swans and wild geese
