CONACUL LUI MANOLACHE NEGRUZZI

Tîrnova is an ancient village, the existence of which is said to date back to 1464. The locality is known for the conac (manor) of Manolache Negruzzi, the uncle of the Romanian writer and politician Constantin Negruzzi. This building was built in two parts in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The manor house has a neo-classical architecture and has a symmetrical single-storey planning, to which a two-storey annex is attached. The main façade is in classical style and the entrance is surmounted by a kind of bell-towered canopy topped by a cockerel. To the manor house were added a mill and the church of the Dormition-de-la-Mère-de-Dieu built between 1840 and 1880. The restoration of the church began in 2010 thanks to the efforts of the priest Nicolae Negrescu and local parishioners. Numerous fruit and decorative trees were planted in the park of the estate. The premises provide a charming setting for walking.
The entire Manolache Negruzzi manor house is in a state of conservation that has been judged unsatisfactory by the authorities. Some work has been carried out and consisted of plaster additions. The building currently serves as the local wedding palace. Many other mansions from this period can also be seen elsewhere in the country: conacul Rosetti-Roznovan in Lipcani, conacul Krupenschi at Corjeuți, conacul Pommer at Țaul, conacul Mirzoian at Hîncești, conacul Cantacuzino in Poiana... Their state of conservation varies.
