Vera Danilescu, a French teacher at Horești, is also the guide and director of the local ethnographic museum. She will be happy to provide you with detailed information about the history of her locality. This village has a long history and was already mentioned in a document dated 19 August 1437, during the reign of Stephen II, Prince of Moldavia. In the past, the village had many craftsmen: potters, blacksmiths, shoemakers... The dowry of the brides also included carpets or embroideries that they had woven. This rich past and the desire to preserve a testimony of local traditions led Vera Danilescu to found this small museum. The village museum is located in the college building and was established with the support of the local population. On the spot one can see carpets, beautiful embroideries, the reconstruction of country interiors, traditional costumes, school uniforms, pottery, tools... Many pictures show the local daily life during the Soviet period, the village schoolchildren or the villagers who participated in the war in Afghanistan from 1979-1989. The museum organizes small conferences and commemorative events. The Osoianu family has also set up a small private museum with objects that belonged to their ancestors (wedding dress, musical instruments...).
To go to Horești you will go to Fălești which stands out with its 131 monuments, 55 of which were erected in honour of "military glory".
