EQUESTRIAN FARM "AT PROLIN"
Opened in 1984, the farm was awarded the status of Orlov's trotter breeding farm in 1992. These horses are the most appreciated in Russia for their elegance, their speed, but also their robustness. As early as the 19th century they were used for horse riding and during the Second World War they were requisitioned for agricultural work. Due to various cross-breeding in the 20th century, Orlov's thoroughbreds almost disappeared but the breed was still saved. There are fifteen breeding farms in Russia, three in Ukraine and one in Moldova, that of Konstantin Kelesh. A graduate of the Odessa Agricultural University, Konstantin Kelesh passionately cares for his twenty Orlov thoroughbreds and this family tradition goes back to his great-grandfather. He is also a very talented painter. In what looks like an old schoolroom, his studio is filled with oil paintings, watercolours and drawings in which horses are the central theme. In the 1990s, when the economic situation was disastrous, the sale of his paintings made it possible to feed and maintain his horses. Konstantin Kelesh's farm is well known and his stallions are famous.
Every year, on the 6th of May, the Herdelez festival in Ceadîr-Lunga is the occasion for demonstration shows with horses and wooden carts, these exhibitions take place among Gagauz cultural performances. It is one of the very few functional racecourses in the country.
