MUZEUL REGIONAL DE ISTORIE
It is one of the most beautiful museums after the ethnographic museum of the capital. The museum opened its doors on February 14, 1964 in what was then the Pioneer's House, and its director at the time, Anatoli Marinov, collected many pieces that are still on display today. The museum's collection consists of 64,000 pieces. On two floors, the rooms follow one another on the same principle as all the museums in Moldova, that is to say, nature and environment (with minerals from the region, fossils...), culture, history, traditions... This time, it concerns the Gagauz people and their culture. The main collections are archaeological finds in the region, works representing the applied arts of the 19th and 20th centuries, philately, coins. One of the rooms is entirely devoted to Gagauz history and culture (documents, jewellery, traditional costumes, embroidery, carpets, handicrafts, gourds, tools, looms, an old gramophone with Gagauz music records...).
Sometimes during the visit, we are quickly followed by an old man (the director), a lady who wants to explain everything, so happy to share and communicate about their history, their existence... Unfortunately everyone here still only speaks Russian, but fortunately they are so welcoming that we end up understanding each other... more or less. Another interesting ethnographic museum is located in the village of Beșalma.
