ETHNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM
The museum is located north of the park, the stadium and Mihai Eminescu High School, west of the court. It is housed in a beautiful building that belonged to a boyar before it became a high school in the 1920s and 1930s. In Soviet times, it was home to a pioneer's house and various administrative departments. The building has been renovated from 2012. The museum was inaugurated in January 2015 and joined the list of 170 similar museums that can be found all over the country. There are many colourful carpets, embroideries, pottery, ceramics, tools (irons, spinning wheels...) and other objects of local popular crafts. You can also see icons, old documents, costumes and some old uniforms. Paintings and photographs with themes related to the region or rural life are on display. A land plan drawn up one hundred and six years ago concerning the purchase by an Odessa bank of some land near the localities of Gura Galbenei, Hârtop, Fetița and Mereni can be seen. There is also a list of deportees during the Soviet period and documents related to the erection of the monument commemorating these victims. The museum and its exhibits were made possible by the efforts of Alexandru Bulat.
In the area of Cimișlia you can also visit the museum in the village of Selemet. The person in charge of the museum is Elena Televca and the mayor of Selemet, Tatiana Badan, also took care of the museum for a long time. She strives to develop Selemet and to promote Moldavian traditions.
